Mark was raised in a Christian home, but as life progressed, his faith was slowly pushed to the side for the things of this world. In his late 20's, he started drinking and running with a faster crowd. Initially, he kept it together, but as his drinking increased his life started to deteriorate.
While he could hide his addiction at work, it was taking a terrible toll on his physical health. Eventually, Mark lost his job and his marriage. He was living out of his car. Fortunately, his family had not given up on him and took him to Haven of Rest. "They didn't give me a choice." Mark laughs. "They told me that's where you are going."
"I didn't know what I was getting into, and I was really uneasy at first." he said. "It didn't take me long to realize that the staff was sincere in their desire to help me, and everything they did was geared to improving my situation." Mark is healing spiritually and physically. He is working again and saving money for his future needs. He has reconnected with God and faithfully attends chapel.
"I am definitely a work in progress." he muses. "I'm so blessed that supporters like you allow me to learn and progress at my own pace. This has allowed me to change my life in a way I would never have been able to on my own. I am eternally grateful."
